DELL TO POWER THE WORLD'S FIRST ROLLING TELEVISION NETWORK
September 3, 2008
Las Vegas, NV – Big Moving Pictures, operator of the Rolling Television Network™ (RTN™) today announced that Dell systems will form the backbone processing power for RTN. Dell technology gives RTN the most advanced portable computing power available today, with graphics comparable to the best cinema and HD television imagery. Dell advertising will also run on RTN and Dell XPS computers will be seen on-camera as providing the key computing power behind the live shows.
Layered onto the best-attended annual outdoor events in the country, RTN provides a big-screen extravaganza akin to an onsite television show. Through the end of 2008 and all of 2009, RTN will bring broadcast-class performances to giant audiences across North America, including air shows featuring the United States Navy Blue Angels, open-wheel motor races and music festivals.
“Whereas previously at major events such as air shows and car races, you had relatively small outdoor screens offering some local advertising, our huge mobile super-bright LED screens allow for unprecedented live event coverage, while supplying a venue for the event’s sponsors and our national advertisers to get their messaging out in an uninterrupted, non-TiVo-able format,” explains David Knight, CEO of Big Moving Pictures.
RTN functions similarly to conventional broadcast networks in that it provides packaged and live action content, a technology infrastructure, promotion and advertising sales, but sends its signal to large outdoor screens and sound systems at major events instead of to the home. The company can also send its audio/video content via Webcast and mobile phones to fans outside of the region where an event is taking place. Feeding all of this will be Dell XPS computers capable of generating realtime, high-resolution graphics and HD video playback.
“RTN will augment these major events with computer-generated graphics and content packages featuring the performers, their machines and embedded full-length commercials, that will bring Hollywood-style presentation to the previously non-video-oriented outdoor show environment,” said RTN Technical Director Shaun Halliday. “The idea behind applying Dell horsepower to RTN is to continually scale the capabilities that RTN can as they reach out to gigantic audiences and actually communicate with them using these amazing machines,” Halliday added.
